Collaboration with Fort Wayne churches and organizations is a stated goal of Grace’s strategic plan. To that end, Grace actively serves with several organizations and churches and we desire to increase these opportunities for service.
We support Vincent Village which provides transitional housing for homeless families and children in Fort Wayne. Each spring we collect clothing and household items to donate to residents. In Advent we collect new toys that Vincent Village parents “purchase” with points earned through program participation. On-site involvement has included Christmas craft activities, singing and providing snacks.
Once a month a small but dedicated group from Grace assists Faith Lutheran, a downtown church, by serving dinner to families in need. Food items are collected at Grace for Faith Lutheran’s food pantry.
Each spring volunteers sort food in conjunction with the Postal Service’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive. Other volunteers assist the City of Fort Wayne in the Annual Clean Up America program. Grace members regularly participate in demonstrations and rallies to bring attention to various social justice issues.
To honor St. Francis of Assisi, Grace welcomes many area residents and their pets to a Blessing of the Animals service. An in gathering of essentials and cash donations is then given to H.O.P.E. for the animals.
From Our Hands is a group of parishioners who knit hospice caps and prayer shawls, as well as scarves and hats for school children.
